Irish Dance Classes in South Dublin

St. Patrick's Day 2012

Well, Scoil Rince Seoige was certainly busy for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day festival! The season began for the Irish dancing school with a request to help Bank of Ireland promote their Fáilte Friday campaign for the month of March. Dancers from Scoil Rince Seoige promoted Irish culture in Bank of Ireland branches by dancing for customers and by speaking a ‘cúpla focal as Gaeilge’. The dancers were delighted to show off their Irish dancing talents and to practise their national language.

In the week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, Scoil Rince Seoige helped celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a large group of Irish ladies by dancing at the Irish Countrywomen’s Association’s St. Patrick’s Day event in Tymon North.

On St. Patrick’s Day itself, Scoil Rince Seoige hadn’t a minute to spare with performances in three different venues. To kick start the afternoon the school danced in Darcy McGees’ The Venue, Spawell Complex, Templeogue. Here they entertained the crowd with traditional céilí dances such as the Walls of Limerick and the Fairy Reel. Dancers also performed solo step dancing, finishing up with their own rendition of Riverdance!! Before they headed off to their next venue, Scoil Rince Seoige dancers asked children up from the audience in Darcy McGees’ to join them in the Bonfire dance, much to the delight of many young girls and boys.

Next stop... St. Jude’s GAA club, Wellington Lane, where to the delight of Scoil Rince Seoige there was a photo opportunity with the Sam Maguire! Here the dancers performed their dances for parents, friends and family.

Finally, a number of Scoil Rince Seoige dancers went on to perform the appropriately named traditional set dance ‘The St. Patrick’s Day’ to thousands of spectators in Tallaght Stadium. The dancers were delighted to perform alongside Tallaght’s Kevin Keeley from RTE’s The Voice and presenter Brian Ormond.

Congratulations to all Scoil Rince Seoige dancers for all their hard work in preparing for and performing on St. Patrick’s Day! Lá Fhéile Padraig!
