About Scoil Rince Seoige

Jennifer Joyce dancing at Johnny FoxesThe Broken Wheel of Tuam

Jennifer Joyce began Irish dancing at the age of three and danced competitively for twenty-one years. Over the years, Jennifer also performed in many shows including the Performing Arts Tribute Awards and 100% Irish Dance, Olympia Theatre. Jennifer won titles including Dublin (2002, 2005) and Leinster (2006) Champion. During this time she became a professional Irish dancer for the Johnnie Fox's Irish dance troupe.

At the age of five Jennifer began her ballet training in R.A.D. and continued this training until the age of eighteen during which time she completed all grading examinations. Throughout her ballet training Jennifer was exposed to various styles of dance and was encouraged to develop her own choreography skills.

Jennifer qualified with an Honours degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics in 2005 and currently works full time as a Dietitian in AMNCH, Tallaght.

Scoil Rince Seoige was established by Jennifer in 2008 (see homepage for further details).

Jennifer is delighted to welcome her sister Caroline Joyce, who recently qualified as an Irish dance teacher, on board to Scoil Rince Seoige. Caroline is a current member of the Johnnie Fox's Irish dance troupe.

The Scoil Rince Seoige logo was inspired by the broken wheel of Tuam. Seoige is Irish for 'Joyce' which is Jennifer's father's family name. He was born and raised in Tuam. Tuam's location is attributed to a legend which says that St. Jarlath set up his monastic settlement at the spot where his chariot wheel broke during the 5th century. Tuam was also the probable capital of Ireland during the 12th century when the High King Rory O'Connor was in residence.
